My love for Beer

Yes, this is definitely a wine site, and yes, I adore wine, but many of you who know me well, also know of my love for beer.
I came by it honestly. My mother and father were natural born natural light drinkers. I remember my first sip and thinking how good it tasted even though my parents were praying I wouldn’t like it. There was something about the fizz and that unknown flavor that made me crave it as soon as I heard my parentals pop the aluminum can.
When I started drinking for fun and not professionally, I made a decision to drink Bud Light. It tasted good and if it was ice cold, it tasted great.
Being from eastern North Carolina, this preference did not make me odd or different or out of the ordinary; no, instead, it made me very cool.
However, when I moved to New York City and became a wino or wine person, I realized early on my love for Bud Light was different than that of my peers.
I’ll never forget going out after work with the sommeliers from Windows and Wild Blue. We entered a dive bar where wine was from the box, not from the bottle, and liquor was the focus of every patron. My coworkers asked for Grey Goose and Tonic or Patron on the rocks. They asked me my poison and I quickly responded, “I’ll take a Bud Light.”
You’ve got to be kidding?
Well, I wasn’t kidding. I was dead serious, and once I got it, I realized why it was the perfect choice. It was ice cold and absolutely delicious. Their curiosities peaked, and they duplicated my order.
Love happened immediately.
My husband, a sommelier, chef, New York native and wine lover, enjoys a Bud Light every night at the end of service. Is it because it’s the best beverage he’s ever tasted? No, it’s because it’s the most refreshing.
Take nothing away from Chimay or Dog Fish or Duck Rabbit or Fat Tire. These beers are all awesome in their own right, and no one loves a Chimay more than I. However, Bud Light is an amazing beer, and I am proud of my love for this incredible beverage.
Gimme a light. No, no, no, a Bud Light.
